A good year after Kanye West made the headlines due to extremely critical statements and Adidas rightly ended its collaboration with his Yeezy brand, the fashion label is on the verge of a comeback.
On Twitter, Kanye West told the world that Gosha Rubchinskiy will be Yeezy 's new creative director. Rubchinskiy has been back in the spotlight for a long time and also announced the revival of his own fashion label. The Russian gained widespread recognition as a streetwear designer around 2017, collaborating with brands such as Burberry and Adidas . Even the CEO of Comme des Garcons , Adrian Joffe , supported the young designer at the time.
All Rubchinskiy's career was missing from his collaboration with Kanye West was a questionable scandal. In 2018 it emerged that the designer was said to have asked underage girls for nude pictures. After this scandal and the cancellation of the collaboration with Adidas, Rubchinskiy disappeared from the spotlight of the fashion world and concentrated on his photography work.
So now Gosha Rubchinskiy is back, highlighting upcoming independent creative work with the American artist. You can easily imagine what lies ahead based on the choice of words. It will probably not be pleasant, provocative and very critical. The question arises as to whether we need perhaps even more nerve-wracking creative work from two pubescent adults, especially at this time, when current topics can already be nerve-wracking enough.
